The British Institute for Libyan and Northern African Studies (BILNAS) is a UK registered charity. Since 1969 we have supported high quality research and been the only major British institution to have helped protect and nurture the culture and heritage of Libya and the wider Northern African region.

Although we receive a large part of our funding from the British Academy, your generous donations and membership subscriptions are essential for us to continue our events, publications, research, the digitisation and housing of our archive, as well as fieldwork. If you are a UK tax payer, please add Gift Aid to your contribution – you can download the form here. Through the Gift Aid scheme we can reclaim 25p for every £1 you give at no additional cost to you. If you pay tax at rates above 20% you will be able to use your donation to reduce your tax bill.
